Give A Little ‘first choice’ for Look Good Feel Better fundraising
Leading cancer support charity, Look Good Feel Better, which helps people across the UK manage the cosmetic and physical impact of their cancer treatment, turned to Give A Little as they were looking for a more consistent approach to their fundraising.
25 June 2026Nicola Ellul, Head of Fundraising, Marketing and Comms, Look Good Feel Better, explains:
“Before we discovered Give A Little, we were using card readers for contactless fundraising at our workshops which are UK-wide and give practical advice and support to people living with cancer. Because of the cost and logistics, we couldn’t provide card readers to be used at all of the workshops and with the card readers we were using, there was no option to add our branding or collect Gift Aid or marketing opt-in data. We were looking for a solution which would deliver a consistent way of fundraising across the charity but also be really easy to use by our volunteers who are different ages and have varying levels of tech knowledge. We found out about the new Give A Little Champion App at just the right time. It seemed like a really good option for us as it would allow us to invite groups of our supporters to fundraise for us with their phones as well as add our branding and track fundraising by campaign. So we were very happy to join the pilot and test it out across a number of different fundraising activities.”
Scaling up event donations with mobile Tap to Pay technology
Nicola adds:
“We have been using the Give A Little Champion App primarily at our events. For example, we used the app to collect donations for raffle tickets at the The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA) 80th Anniversary Ball. We had two staff with the app on their phones and it worked perfectly.”
“We also used the Give A Little Champion App at the Guards Ladies Charity Polo Day for raffle tickets as well as for our lucky dip game and taking donations in exchange for cosmetics. We set up two different campaigns, one for the raffle and lucky dip and one for the donations for cosmetics so that we could track and segment both income streams. We gave everyone with the app access to both campaigns and whoever was interacting with the donor could select the relevant campaign. This worked well and donors didn’t mind making separate donations. Millie, who is our Fundraising Administrator, was taking lots of quick donations for the lucky dip and it was so easy to use.”
Empowering volunteers and tracking regional charity donations
In addition to events, Look Good Feel Better has been using the app at their workshops and also with their brand partners. Nicola continues:
“The regional managers for our different workshop areas, including the South West, Midlands and Scotland, have been invited to use the Give A Little Champion App. We have created a different campaign for each area and each manager and the volunteers who help out at the workshops can use the app to take donations in exchange for the merchandise we have on offer. This is really useful as we can see how each area is performing and how much income they are raising. Everyone has taken to the app really well - there have been some questions but they have mainly been around how Tap to Pay works and once they are up and running they have found it very straightforward.”
Maximising corporate partnership fundraising and real-time tracking
“We have seen excellent results from our brand partners who often run their own events to raise funds in exchange for cosmetic items. We created a campaign for one brand partner with their branding on it and we couldn’t believe how much they raised - we watched the Give A Little admin backend like it was a film! Our brand partner was super happy with the app and we could see how quick it was for them to use. There weren’t that many of them taking the donations and we could see the figures going up and up and up: We never expected to raise so much - the fact it was so easy to use I think contributed to the success."
On how the Look Good Feel Better team are planning to use the app in future:
“We’ll be rolling the app out to more of our partners and we’ll create a campaign for each of them to use for all of their events and activities. They like the fact that we can track the fundraising in real time and let them know how much they have raised in total. We will also be using the app for individual fundraisers who are doing challenges and events for us to raise funds. The ability to take a donation there and then rather than sending a link and hoping supporters take action has a much higher success rate, so the Give A Little Champion App is perfect for that.”
Why Look Good Feel Better recommends the Give A Little Champion App
On why the charity would recommend the Give A Little Champion App, Sally says:
“Firstly, the Give A Little Champion App is so easy to use and it looks really professional. I’m not particularly technical - it’s not my area of expertise but I didn’t have any issues with it whatsoever and I really like the sensory feedback of the tap! Secondly, the Give A Little Team has been so responsive, which makes a world of difference.”
Nicola adds:
“Having the Give A Little Champion App has really changed the way we fundraise and communicate in our workshops for the better. There’s no need to have awkward conversations on how to donate any more. Our volunteers are also getting much more confident with making the fundraising ask, thanks to having the app on their phones. From now on, any way we raise income - Give A Little will be our first choice platform.”
