Give A Little Celebrates £100M Milestone by Giving Back to Its Community

Seven charitable organisations were randomly selected from entries submitted through their Give A Little admin accounts, with each winner receiving between £100 and £1,000 towards their fundraising.

• St Mary the Virgin and All Saints Church - £1,000

• Cawston Community Choir - £500

• St Andrew's Church, Eastbourne - £100

• Friends of Groombridge Primary School (FGPS) - £100

• The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust - £100

• The Parish of St Andrew's Preston with Sutton Poyntz - £100

• All Saints' PCC - £100

Each winning charitable organisation is using Give A Little in different ways, but they all share one thing in common: they are making a positive difference in their communities. Here's what some of our winners had to say.

Receiving the top prize of £1,000 was St Mary the Virgin & All Saints Church in Potters Bar.

The church has embraced cashless giving through Give A Little, using QR codes alongside CollecTin More and Payaz card donation devices running the Give A Little Point of Donation App to collect donations at services, concerts and community events.

Revd Stefan said:

"Since joining Give A Little and utilising both QR codes and the CollecTin More and Payaz contactless devices, we have been able to receive many donations from people who no longer habitually carry cash on them.

This has been particularly useful at occasional services such as baptisms, weddings and funerals, as well as our monthly music concerts.

The portability of the CollecTin More has also meant that when social occasions have been held in the church hall we have been able to take contactless donations for refreshments there too.

The generous donation of £1,000 will help to fund our planned permanent installation of WiFi in the church, which will both improve our ability to include our housebound members via livestreaming our services and give us the flexibility to use these donation devices anywhere in the church building."

Cawston Community Choir received £500, which will help support its mission of making singing accessible to everyone.

The choir uses Give A Little every week to collect contactless donations, as well as during concerts, quiz nights and fundraising events.

Dr Diane Davies, Treasurer at Cawston Community Choir, said:

"We use Give A Little to collect donations each week as well as for concerts and fundraising events. We hold a Quiz night a couple of times a year and run a bar – so Give A Little is always on hand to help.

This support will make an enormous difference to the funds that Cawston Community Choir raises.

We don't charge a subscription to join the choir. Instead, members make a weekly donation of whatever they can afford. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to sing, regardless of their financial circumstances, because singing is so beneficial for mental wellbeing, building confidence, and making lasting friendships.

The choir is also proud to support two local primary school choirs at no cost to parents, helping children experience the joy and benefits of singing from an early age."

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust was also one of the organisations celebrating with a £100 donation.

The Trust uses Give A Little across a wide range of fundraising activities, helping visitors and supporters contribute towards conservation, community events and special appeals.

Emma Jackson, Development Manager at The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, said:

"We greatly value working with Give A Little. The platform is an important part of our fundraising, supporting everything from conservation appeals and visitor giving to community events and special campaigns. Its flexibility gives our supporters a range of ways to engage with and contribute to our work, while the Give A Little team is always responsive and collaborative in helping us make the most of new opportunities.

Winning this £100 celebration donation is a wonderful surprise. Every contribution helps us care for Shakespeare's internationally significant heritage and create more opportunities for people to experience, enjoy and be inspired by Shakespeare through our places, collections and programmes.

We are delighted to celebrate this milestone with the Give A Little team and wish them every success as they continue supporting charities and good causes in the years ahead."

Churches continue to be some of the many organisations benefiting from cashless giving through Give A Little, enabling them to accept donations from supporters who no longer carry cash while making fundraising easier for special projects and everyday giving alike.

One of the £100 winners was St Andrew's Church, Eastbourne.

Churchwarden Sarah Slaughter said:

"It was a lovely surprise to hear the news we had won £100. Give A Little has enabled us to be able to take contactless donations, a blessing appreciated by many of our parishioners. Give A Little gives us the flexibility to have unlimited campaigns for different events. This is a great help when we are working out income from various groups and events.

The money we have won will be put towards another camera on our CCTV system. This enables St Andrew's to remain open to people who visit us for prayers, to light a candle or just to enjoy the quiet space."

Another £100 winner, St Andrew's Preston with Sutton Poyntz, has also seen the benefits of introducing Give A Little for their contactless giving.

Julie Burton said:

"We installed our CollecTin More donation point, which uses Give A Little software, in July 2024, and in the two years since then, we have received over £1,100 in donations! We are absolutely over the moon with this, as you can imagine.

The Give A Little platform performs very well for us, enabling us to set up various campaigns which has been very useful, as we are gradually working our way through some big projects on our 14th-century church."

Reaching £100 million raised is a landmark achievement for the Give A Little community, and it's only possible thanks to the thousands of charitable organisations and fundraisers who use the platform every day. We’d also like to thank the thousands of donors who contribute.
