War Child significantly increases donations with Give A Little at BRITs Week
War Child, which protects, educates and stands up for the rights of children caught up in conflict, saw a significant increase in donations at this year’s BRITs Week thanks to using Give A Little and CollecTin to collect contactless donations.
February 23, 2023Ten CollecTin contactless donation boxes, which use Give A Little software, were gifted to War Child by BRITs Week sponsor, Mastercard to use at 15 gigs across the UK, which included performances from The 1975, Sugababes, Frank Turner and Rina Sawayama. A percentage of tickets were given away as part of a prize draw and all funds raised from ticket sales will go to the charity.
War Child created three different fundraising campaigns through their Give A Little account to display on the CollecTins and collected an average donation value of £8.39 across the week and over £5,000 in total.
“We wanted to experiment by creating different campaigns on Give A Little with different donation values. We chose to display £3, £5 and £7 on one, £5, £10 and £15 on another and a single amount of £10 on the third, which we used for those on the guest list.
We also enabled the ‘choose your own amount option’ and marketing opt-in. We found that the donation stations carried around by volunteers were the most effective and people were more likely to donate after the gig as they were leaving. We had a Global Radio DJ host at each event and they as well as the artists encouraged gig goers to look out for the donation stations and donate if they were able, which worked well. We were really pleased that we could customise our fundraising campaigns through Give A Little with images, video and our logo as they looked great on the CollecTins and people could clearly see that we were asking for donations.”
“We felt so supported by the Give A Little team throughout BRITs Week. The amount of onsite donations raised was significantly more than we got last year, so we are so pleased with the results. Lots of our War Child colleagues are now asking to use the CollecTins and Give A Little and we are planning to use them at festivals this summer and raise even more money for War Child’s key work.”
