Using Give A Little for retail payments
The Give A Little service is designed for charities, and therefore is designed to be used for taking charitable donations. We do not provide a retail point of sale service and have no future intention to do so.
How this looks in practice is that:
We do not issue VAT based receipts
Refunds cannot be processed via our platform (although this can be done via your SumUp or Stripe payment processing account)
We refer to all people making a payment as 'donors' and refer to them as this in their receipts etc. So even if Gift Aid is disabled, any receipt issued will 'thank the donor for their donation'.
We know that there are a number of scenarios where the line between a donation and a sale becomes grey; for example, selling cakes at a stall to raise money for your organisation, or charging for tickets to enter an event.
Our main concern is that Give A Little should be used exclusively by charitable organisations raising money to support your good causes. If revenues are raised to support your organisation then in reality we have little issue with how you decide to use Give A Little.
We simply reserve the right not to support retail activities with point of sale features, to ensure that Give A Little continues to focus on our mission of making it easier and cheaper for charities to adopt cashless fundraising.
